Ronaldo's Career in Photos

Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima hit the headlines as a 17-year-old in 1994, scoring 55 goals in 57 games for PSV Eindhoven
The teenager becomes a World Cup winner in 1994, although he does not play in a single match in the USA
He scores his first international goal for Brazil in their 3-1 win over England in the Umbro Cup at Wembley in 1995
In June 1996, Ronaldo moves to Barcelona, where he scores the winning goal in the Cup Winners' Cup final in 1997
After scoring an incredible 34 goals in 37 games in one season at the Nou Camp, Inter shell out £18m for his services in 1997
The striker is in prolific form at the 1998 World Cup, scoring four goals as Brazil march to the final against France
But he suffers a convulsive fit the night before the final, a match Brazil lose 3-0, and conspiracy theories begin to fly
Injuries blight Ronaldo's five-year stay at Inter, including a knee problem which forces him to miss the 2000/01 season
However, all is forgotten as a rehabilitated Ronaldo scores eight goals in Brazil's 2002 World Cup triumph
And just a month later, Ronaldo becomes a Real Madrid Galactico for a whopping £20m
At the 2006 World Cup Ronaldo's goal against Ghana sees him become the top goalscorer in competition history with 15
After four-and-a-half years at the Bernabeu, Ronaldo returns to Italy with AC Milan for £5m
However, Ronaldo's weight becomes an issue as the striker piles on the pounds in Italy
But his glittering career could be over after rupturing a tendon against Livorno on Wednesday
